It looks like there’s a new indie coming-of-age film to get excited about on the way, in the form of Lady Bird, the directorial debut of actress and writer Greta Gerwig (star of Frances Ha).
Lady Bird features Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, Brooklyn) in the lead role as a somewhat troublesome youth, who appears to be struggling with her identity as well as a fiery relationship with her mother, played by Laurie Metcalf (The Big Bang Theory).
After Ronan has established herself as an acting force to be reckoned with, we’re excited to see her take the lead here in something a little different than we’re used to.
Lady Bird will be released here in the UK in February.
